Child Line Logo – Lost Souls

I did this as a fictional logo at the end of September 2012. As usual when a piece is finished, it was put into my portfolio of finished designs.

However, i read an article on BBC News on December 4th about the annual increase in contacts to the organization Child Line.

This made me think about the design i had done 2 months earlier and thought I’d do some re-work on it to help highlight the service Child Line provides to the youngsters in the UK.

Here is a sample of the original design;

and can also be viewed

HERE.

I paid a visit to the Child Line website to look to see the color schemes & style of their Logo and thought i would rework the design in a similar style & color.

This is what i come up with, which i think fits their design & color scheme.

Now let me explain the actual design & my thoughts when creating this. The overall design represents a child sitting down with his, or her head down deep in thought. The curve from the top of the head to the “o” in the text Lost Souls represents how they often feel closed in and have no way out of their situation. Now, if you look into the design. You will notice a face shape from the arm (nose), the arm joint is an eye and then from the arm to which connects to the “S” of the text souls is a jaw and mouth. This face shape represents a concerned parent looking over their child with sadness. The Lost Souls text was added to help create the mouth area and the wording speaks for itself about how the child must feel at the time.

The overall design was kept in line art style to keep with the Child”line”.

There you go, now you know my thoughts behind this.

Here are some thought provoking numbers, and as Parents we need to be more aware of our youngsters well being.

Quote – “There were 1.2 million calls to Child Line in total – and 1.85 million visits to the website – with 50% of contacts coming from those in the 12 to 15 age group, 30% from 16- to 18-year-olds and 20% aged 11 and under.”

ps: maybe an admin could PIN this for a little while to help highlight the Organization.

The drop shadow really doesn't work, and I'm not sure the actual abstractness of the logo really works. Children will be the ones to really take note of the logo, it needs to stick in their mind.
