_Ms_ 106 Posted January 7, 2013 Bit of a work in progress. Haven't quite decided on clothing thus far. Also considering using a typography background with a good quote, but can't really find any that convey the concept. Definitely open to suggestions or even possibly a collab.Concept: I wanted to leave it open to interpretation as to whether he was putting the mask on or taking it off, as for some it's painful to remove the mask and expose oneself while for others it's more painful to have to put it back on when needed. Software: Adobe Illustrator CS6Tools Used: Pen Tool, Blend Tool, Pathfinder, Shapes, Opacity Masks AI file for anyone wanting to collab with it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/h0pojq5jp5ly548/Cullen_Jax_Mask.ai

_Ms_ 106 Posted January 7, 2013 i saw it on your FB page, looks great so far i wish i had time to do tablet work... I did that on my touchpad of my macbook pro. Haven't gotten the hang of tablet for Illustrator work. I use it solely for PS painting/smudging and such. Yes, I've posted this on dA, FB, here, and an RPG's gfx forum hoping I can find some direction somewhere, lol. Very rare I get the time for a "just for fun" Ai project. I'd really like for this not to go in my unfinished folder for life. haha. Started back from holiday break today, two classes. Have one client that wants a gazillion infographics, another infographic client, and multiple photo restoration clients. So, I'm so swamped, I just don't have the time to really play with this one like I'd want. :(
MonsterAddict 0 Posted January 7, 2013 “We understand how dangerous a mask can be. We all become what we pretend to be.” -Patrick Rothfuss To me, it looks like he knows he's putting himself into a dangerous situation.
Lustre 108 Posted January 7, 2013 Due to the nature of the mask, to me it seems he is taking it off and revealing his true emotion (previously hidden behind the passive mask, with the hint of a smile). Incredible work though!
_Ms_ 106 Posted January 8, 2013 “We understand how dangerous a mask can be. We all become what we pretend to be.” -Patrick Rothfuss To me, it looks like he knows he's putting himself into a dangerous situation. Due to the nature of the mask, to me it seems he is taking it off and revealing his true emotion (previously hidden behind the passive mask, with the hint of a smile). Incredible work though! Love the quote, and I'm glad you each saw it differently. It was my intent to leave it open to interpretation of the viewer as to whether he was taking it off or putting it on. Some people (like soldiers for example) have to put a mask on for their career and may not like the idea. Others may wear a mask all the time and it might be hard on them to remove it. Thus, I wanted it either way.

_Ms_ 106 Posted January 22, 2013 Exo, when things calm down a bit for me work and school-wise, we'll get you going in AI, and you can collab with me on it then. If not that one another....I'm AI obsessed now, there will be dozens of projects coming, lol. I really need a vector lesson on hair. I really hate hair. There just has to be an easier way than I'm trying to go about it. For this project, I've been wanting to fix his hair.... It's too spiky and doesn't go with the rest of the softer curved lines of the piece. However, I do want to keep the negative space of it. So everything I've tried makes him look like a girl or a dude with a bad comb over.
