Daedal 13 Posted February 28, 2014 This project has already been turned in but would still like CNCs. We had to design a 60s style rock poster. The only graphics allowed was the guitar player shape. He originally had a star with him but I didn't like it so I deleted it. Being a fist semester graphic design student, should I be more conservative in my designs? For instance, the text design as a peace sign, did I go overboard with it? The text at the bottom left and right are more readable on the original size. Even the background seems really bold. I'm just starting to second guess myself. We had to have 3 inspiration pieces and I probably should have posted them also so you could see how and why I designed this as such. Also, would it be unethical to have projects CNCed before turn in? Smaller version of original:
Maniak_uk 5,063 Posted February 28, 2014 Like the design and concept but colours are a tad to bright :'> kiu
 Awards
GOvectorZ 970 Posted February 28, 2014 Like Mk, i also like the design overall Daedal. For me personally, i think the main text (oval shape), i would of tried maybe an off-white fill or grad to make it pop out a little bit more. I'd also consider changing the color of the sub text to an off white so it's make it a tad easier on the eyes. In my experience blue on pink strains the eyes a liitle too much. Nice use of the inner glow & drop shadow to make the lines pop out. I'd also change the border to white on this. Is this Illustrator based m8y? As for the question about unethical asking for c&c before hand, i don't think so tbh. Look forward to seeing more of this kinda style.
Daedal 13 Posted February 28, 2014 Yea, I see what ya'll mean. I just wished I would have posted this prior to turn in. Many, many thanks though Maniak and Jimmy. I'll definitely add this info to my toolbox of techniques.
GOvectorZ 970 Posted February 28, 2014 hey you lol never answered my question> illy or Ps? just wondering as if it's illy, then i could be more helpful for future stuff like this haha Always willing to lend a hand to anyone interested in Illy (as long as you not lazy) rofl
Charon 73 Posted February 28, 2014 I like the concept of it and I feel like you executed it well aside from the legibility. Remember, the purpose of this poster would be to get people to come to this festival... a nice looking poster is going to attract people, but you're not going to attract anyone if the information isn't clear. Even if it's easier to read in a larger version, consider the fact that not everyone that sees it is going to be standing right next to it. Other than that it's a nice design. Good work. Also, it's not unethical to get CNC before turning stuff in. Most schools offer services for students to turn to for her with school work. Writing centers, tutors, etc.. Teachers encourage the use of these resources.
