GIANT Escape City 2015

This is what I'm working on now and thought I'd show a few progression shots along the way. This will be printed at poster size when finished.

When i start a piece like this, I'll set out the main paths/objects first and use a base (starting point) gradient to get an overall feel for a piece as it looks like below.

GEC-preview-1.jpg

Next step in this case will be concentrating on the frame, adding the welds, braze-ons, etc and then tweak the colors/gradients to define it more. Will probably define the seat also at same time.

I'll post that next ;)

ps: If you have any specific questions about any stage in the build of a certain element then feel free to ask HERE.

Update: as you can see, still more shading to be done but making progress now.

Last Update (19/01/15) i think now before completion.

GEC-preview-3.jpg

FINAL UPDATE (took a bit longer to get back to than i thought)..

Anyway, i hope this shows what's possible using Illustrator

Thx Mikey, trying to talk myself into getting this model hence the vector version. So i'm trying to make it more realistic than most vectors i do to help persuade me hehe

Hardest part of the spokes i think m8, is getting the colours just right. I spent more time adjusting the brush that was made for them. As for working out the amount/degrees of spokes, t'is an easy lil calculation ;)

And yes thankfully there is a few elements which can be reused which is always a plus.

ps: added one last update before the completed piece is posted :<img src=:'>

pps: like yer new sig too

About Us

Pimped Pixels was founded in 2010 by Maniak, Asura, Cliffbuck and Evilangel. Shortly afterwards Mikey jumped onboard and joined the team. We are a group of friends with a passion for art and a need to help others by sharing. The site started with just the four and in a short while grew to a community of over 4000 members. Everyone is welcome here, from complete beginners to all out professionals. We have something for everyone. Our aim is to give everyone with the "bug" a place to learn, make friends and share their passion.
