My take on Photo Manipulation

Hey guys, it's been months since I've touched Photoshop and I just wanted to give it a shot again because I just can't quit. Here's my latest creation after a long hiatus:

 

 

I wanted to delve into photo manipulation but I couldn't find any particularly useful tutorials. Can anyone PM/link me a good photo manipulation tutorial?

I do like the concept, but there are a few things i would do differently. I did previously attempt doing something similar, with similar results. So i sort of have an idea what could provide a fair bit of help. First of all, try adding a spherical distortion to the space background. Play around with it until it looks good. Also, what i would do is add a few layers of white (or a light colour that suits the tag) soft brush on top of the light bulb to create a glare effect on top of it. My last piece of advice is to move the light on the tag or the light source a bit too. The light on the background seems to appear from the middle of the light bulb when actual light source inside it is not at the middle.

 

Just some things for you to try Personally, i love photo manipulations even though they are a massive pain in the rear. The concept and the use of the space piece splattered on the background i do find brilliant. just a few details to make it really pop.

There is a filter in Photoshop for spheric distortion (or something like that) in the filters

Atm it looks like you have clipped the space Stock to the bulb, so it looks rather flat, the idea is to try to keep the feeling of volume within the bulb, and try and bring though some of the qualities of the glass bulb, reflection, spherical, etc.

 

The PM you have chosen isn't exactly an easy one to begin with, there are a few websites that have some really good tuts specifically for PM's, one that comes to mind is PSD VAULT. Do a search on google for Photomanipulations tutorials and you find a few more sites
