xBraiNshOcK 207 Posted May 5, 2011 Ok so I had to make a web design for my interface course so I came up with it. No live version yet just pictures until I get some time to work on it on Dreamweaver. I made it a two column design which everyone can reference to as if they were reading a book. Everyone knows how to navigate a book so this is great for all audiences. Contrast between white and dark make the text real easy to read and the dark background is easy for the eyes in nighttime. When one is on a specific page for example the about page, the about text color will change to a dark gray tone to signify that you are on that page. Don 73 Posted May 5, 2011 Well i like gb but the menu bar it too empty and it does not seem good.Actually it does not match with the bg.If i were you i would create a table bar for my menu.It is more beautiful and it fits with the bg. As for the hover parts remobve this black one.I would suggest to you putting smt like a light grey but if u follow my advice and create a table menu then make the table grey and the hover somt like more lither grey.(I hope u can catch my idea). A small suggest.I know too from coding im using dreamweaver some time now.Do not put seldom fonts cause if u save them at .txt (and this u must do if u want your portfolio be in search engines) and the other users do not have this fonts will not be able to see what u write. You must know that when you'll start coding the texts u have written gonna be deleted. You must write your text with css not from Photoshop. A small suggestion for me.If u want to amke more beautiful your site enable some weekly polls (theme is up to you). That means that you must code your site into .php and not to HTML. You tafs seems to be good.Same for your ABOUT ME page. Do nopt take this a negative comments i just tried to help with my ideas cause im a coder too.Hope i helped. EvilAngel 447 Posted May 5, 2011 I think the information on your about me page could be a bit more professional but i am loving the design...
xBraiNshOcK 207 Posted May 5, 2011 Thanks Don, I will take your advice into consideration. I just learned a little about coding in my web design class so now I have to go and see what works and what doesn't. I may do some changes to it when I work it at dreamweaver. And I will definitely change the text to a more common one for computers. Thanks all, will improve it as I go. I think the information on your about me page could be a bit more professional but i am loving the design... yea that was just quick writing. Rather than placing the typical "sample text" all over the place
Don 73 Posted May 5, 2011 Actually Brain if u want to show your future template just put a lolem text to your psd file.Text is not the one that u must take care of now.Text will be added later from css (DW)
Peace-Keeper 37 Posted May 5, 2011 Well It's good yet needs some tweaks in my opinion. I'm not an expert by any means but I believe I know a thing or two about this sort of thing. Don is right about the text, if it's not an image it will change when coded. Most people use some sort of images/buttons for their headers. Mainly though what I see is that you have a simpler style layout, something that as stated everyone can understand. First off this is good and bad. It's good cuz yes everyone can understand it however this is the internet and most people are accustomed to odd style layouts from time to time. Portfolio sites should show your creativity and abilities in your craft. If you wish to solely rely on your work to show that then simple is good but in that case I would change the BG. It hits me more as a grunge style BG that you tried to spruce up a bit with the lines. I would remove the lines and go to a more professional pattern of sorts. If you wish to show your creativity and abilities in all aspects of the site then I would redo the layout to be more interesting. I know you are still learning so please take this as friendly advice or at the least as my own opinion. KAI PCE
